Let's ponder, dearest squadmates. How have we grown through this camp?
I shall start off giving off my own personal reflections before giving a recount of what had happened, it might not be extremely detailed, for I am never good at providing detailed and specific information for a recount. In which case, Foonghui would be the best choice( You would get what I mean if you actually read her blog).
In this camp, I won't deny that I was looking for chances to slack off. I would be a real bastard if I said that I didn't. I particularly regret falling out during the major PT sessions, cheering on for you all during the 4km run without running is totally different from me going through it with you all myself. I swear to never fall out again, no matter how tough the training is. Do remind me if I ever say I want to fall out because of the tough training, I promise to never do so, these words may seem little to you, but don't belittle it, I mean it. My conscience still squirms with guilt whenever I remember Madeleine and Foonghui breaking down in tears after the run. Just imagine not running and seeing your squadmates, who have been through paradise and hell with you, breaking down after their run. It's a serious blow to your pride. It also set me pondering, have I done the right thing? Well, though the answer is an apparent no, and there is no point crying over spilt milk, I suppose all I can do is to work harder next year and endure through everything with all of you. I don't seek all of your forgiveness for trying to slack off, but, I can only assure better standards from me myself.
One role model to learn from would be YangSheng, and I'm serious. In this camp, he has displayed perseverance. In many events, like the protecting of flags, pt, and the informing of our squadmates of details, Yangsheng has actually performed them, even though he was dead beat as well. I must say that the qualities that he showed during the camp makes us the rest of us pale in comparision with him. Perhaps it's time to reflect again, is this fair to him? He has been extremely co-operative through the whole course of the camp. I don't know about the rest of you, but, he has gained my total respect and has became one of my role models. This may seem like an exaggeration, but, I seriously mean it. If you all didn't know, from a number of 6 pull ups, he endured all the way even after those intensive training sessions and did 10pull ups. That's indeed a remarkable feat, so, kudos to you, Yangsheng.
On another note, I think that we ought to thank the NCOs. Though we complain of the lack of sleep, I bet that the NCOs have an even greater lack of sleep. They helped us with our dance, tried to improve our standard, and even encouraged us throughout the way. We're really grateful to you, our dear i/cs'. Though this transition is rather awkward, I think that I personally have accepted all of you after this ITC. At the very least, we do know that you all care, and that's what matters, really. (:
I'm seriously glad to say that through this camp, we have endured many different activities together. To regain our flags, we have gritted our teeth and continued with the pumpings and other physical training activities that we had been given. We even exceeded our normal limits just to regain the flags. Though it may not seem to be an exorbitant amount, we did approximately 167 pumpings within a day, and from what I remember, it's seriously way above our former limits, at least, for most of us. Though I'm quite sure all of us are having our muscle aches and everything now, I think that it's rather worth it. I may be wrong, but, I think that we've all gotten more bonded through this camp. Frankly speaking, I'm already starting to miss the camp, though we might be doing pumpings for night pt(for it's 10.43pm now), I don't think that I would mind.
For the dance, I must also thank all of you for co operating with Foonghui, Ruth, Yangsheng, the NCOs and I. Without all of your co operation, we would definitely not have been unable to pull off such a rather good show for the ITC dance. You know, we should be glad that we didn't produce the xi shua shua standard dance for ITC, for that was a total failure :X
In anycase, this might mark the end of my own long personal reflection, but, I must compliment ourselves for enduring through this camp together. Hahs, I remember myself dreading this camp before it started, but I'm missing it alot now, how ironic. :X Even Kristine who injured her ribcage misses ITC, hahas.
HOTSHOTS OWNS,
FOR ETERNITY.
I'm going to start my recount, so, bear with it, if not, I don't really expect you to read through the whole long post. :X
On the first day, we all turned up and had our opening ceremony. Not the whole squad was there though, most were away at the netball competition. When they came back, we had our briefing, dinner, and night trail. The night trail was filled with activities, but, since most of us were present then, I don't see a need to elaborate much on it right. :X But, in general, we were crapping much while waiting. I don't know how the solo night for the rest of you was like, so, you'd have to fill this blank in for yourself alrights.
On the second day, we work up particuarly early because of fire drill that we got mixed up with SJABs. Then we did a couple more sessions of fire drill cause our standard wasn't there. Then our PT started. After PT, we had the UG trail, which was seriously blood boring. In the end, one of our groups, consisting of NCO Raymeo and Freda won :D Congratulations, hahas. Then we had lunch, and the best thing about it was that we cooked the food ourselves! Cooking food using solid fuel wasn't that bad actually, hahs, the pastas tasted really good too xP Field cooking rocks, haha. We then had drill, and wow, our standard was up there. We had solid bangs and everything, heh, even NCO Weeteck couldn't comment much. But, sadly to say, our standard dropped slightly towards the end of the drill session due to fatique.
After the drill, we practise our dance for a little while(we spent some of the time in pumping position cause we exceeded the time given to us to change by 11minutes). Then we got chided by Mam over some issue and then we went for dinner. After dinner, the NCOs helped us with our dance, and with the whole squad co-operating, we managed to pull off a good show for the candlelight night. Heh, thanks NCOs. You all made candlelight night very enjoyable. At least we weren't dancing in one damn black field right :X
The night was then followed by night PT, which was rather tiring, cause we were already tired after having the PT during the rest of the day. Shall no elaborate much, but I knew we were all tired then.
Here's the last day. We had fire drills early in the morning, and we repeated the fire drill twice, because we didn't show of sense of urgency. We then did some stretching after the fire drill, and then ran the 10rounds ( though i didn't). This was when Madeleine and Foonghui cried, cause they went past their limits. =/ Aye. Then we did pumpings, sit ups, tutu jumping jacks, and it ended off with a unit run. :D We then had breakfast, and this whole ITC ended off with recrea. Heh. At around 12.30pm, it was home sweet home.
That's about the end of this sucky recount.
Though it might not be able to help you with the reflection that we have to write, you may be able to get some details that you have forgotten alright. :X
Let's rock it all for the next ITC, cause it'd be our last ITC as cadets. :D
