SQUADMATES :D
some squadmates said that they wanted an overseas CIP.
so i started looking for one when i decided not to do my maths hw anymore (:
i found this one th most suitable out of all.
please give me your feedback.
i'll decided on whether or not to plan th CIP depending on the response given okay!
okay here are the details.

Volunteer Abroad in Thailand - Chiangmai

Country : Thailand
City/Province :Chiangmai
Activity : Working with children, Community service
Duration : min 3 nights
Cost : from USD405

Make a difference volunteering abroad in Asia!
Volunteers can make a meaningful contribution by working with children at the orphanage. Spend quality time with them, teach them new games, coach them on their school work and help out with fundraising projects. Even words of encouragement and a listening ear are profound boosters to the esteem of these disadvantaged children.
This project is suitable for family volunteering, student volunteering and corporate volunteering.

Our program in Chiang Mai offers volunteers the opportunity to work with orphans, taking care of and interacting with them, getting involved in the activities of the charities such as making greeting cards and handicrafts for fund raising, helping with the welcome programs for visitors to the charities and helping out where needed.
The program will give you a chance to make an important contribution to the people of Thailand, and gain an in depth experience of the country and its culture that will stay with you the rest of your life.

Start Date

Our volunteer program in Chiangmai starts on any date of your choice throughout the year. Volunteers must arrive at least one day before the start of their program.

Volunteer Hours

Volunteers generally work from 9am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Orphanage Foundation

The foundation has 2 Homes both for orphans. One houses healthy orphans while the other houses HIV positive children.

Volunteers could work with the younger children in the area of feeding, playing, and with the older children, in their homework. Help them develop interest, motivate them , teach them English and computer skills. Bring them on an excursion, initiate a project involving the children... there is plenty that volunteers can do. The most important contribution is the encouragement, attention and love that volunteers bring, which could profoundly change the children’s perspective of the world that they are in.

There is also opportunity to be involved in community outreach. Join these children when they make trips to the nearby tribal village to offer their company and encouragement, and to share whatever food that they could spare. You will be touched by their generosity despite their predicament.

Thailand Chiangmai Volunteer Holiday Package Price
3nights USD405
1 week USD570
What's included: accommodation, programme fees per person
What’s not included in the package : Airfares, visa and travel insurance
All prices are accurate at the time of publishing and subject to changes from time to time.

( oh and HIV can only be passed on through sexual intercourse unless you drink a bucket of saliva) <-- this is for those who didn't attend sexual education lessons)

[[RVNP Sec01 'o8]] journeys♥

An image floats out from my vault of memories.
It is one day before NPAP training, at the canteen.
Sir Qin Hui, part of their squad, was celebrating Staff Clarine's birthday.
The number of people singing the birthday song were few, but it was nice to see that...
After two years...
They were still mentally... The EXTREMISTS.
In part, perhaps.
But at least, the bonds for some of them...
Held.

The passing of time is uncontrollable,
But "hearts are the same as time, their distance increases as they are taken further apart."
When we eventually part ways,
will this 3, 4 years of experience count for nothing?
Like all this...
Never happened?

The squad blog of the EXTREMISTS... last post, 24 August 2008.
The squad blog of Sec3'08... last post, 23 October 2009.
The squad blog of thebangbangsquad... last post, 24 June 2010.
Not even past ROD.

They don't seem to have gone on even one year more than their ROD year.

Squadmates...
Personally, I'm afraid that the distance between us will increase as time passes,
and one day, we'll pass each other,
shoulders almost touching,
and saying nothing,
eyes cast downwards.

No acknowledgement,
no smiles,
no waves,
nothing.
Seriously, that idea is really very scary.

Will our bonds hold? Will it truly last?

Today's "revision date" at NP room wasn't a total success.
Only a handful came:
Pei Hao, Yang Sheng, Amanda, Foong Hui, Kristine, Sylvia, Michelle, Chloe, Freda and I.
Sure, it wasn't obligatory.
Yes, in the end I don't think we really increased our chances of acing Promos.
But to have but less than a third of our squad...
It's saddening.

I was thinking of suggesting squad outing, actually.
Especially seeing the pictures of Staff Ong Min that batch being posted on Facebook. On the recent squad outing.
I was thinking, since we didn't spend any time with our Sec 1 squad ICs, Sec 2 squad ICs, and our ROD-ing Sec 3 squad ICs, perhaps we could invite them to our squad outing.
Since it'd be awkward to have all 3 batches of ICs together, perhaps we can plan 3 squad outings!
Idealistic. I know.
But after seeing how many were here today (or yesterday, by now),
I think this thought can be discarded down the drain.

If we are going to have only about 10 people turn up for the squad outing,
can we still call it a squad outing?

For heavens' sake, our squad has a total strength of 32, minus-ing I-Lin and Michael.
To just have 10 people and call it a squad outing, that's pathetic.

Squadmates.
Seriously.

We've never had a squad outing, have we?
We've thought about, but never actually done a squad tee, squad jacket, squad wristband, squad whatever, have we?

Last year to bond.
Can we get these things going?

1. Squad outing.
2. Squad identity. In the form of wristband, tee, jacket, whatever.
3. Posting on squad blog.

People, please don't be thinking, "Let the usual people post."
They'll feel lonely, you know.
We even stinge on the tagging part,
not even giving the basic acknowledgement that the post was read.

I looked back at the archives of our squad blog,
and realised that we used to have multiple posts about the same act.
And now...
I dunno.
We can see for ourselves.

Squadmates.
"NCO-ship will either break or bond a squad."
We say bond, bond, bond.
But are their any visible testimonies to show that we have bonded?

I'm not attacking anyone in my post.
I've no right to begrudge you the liberty of revising for promo in the comfort of your house.
I'm just saying...
Can we all please just put in abit more effort to keep our squad Hotshots a squad?
"A squad is not made up of individuals."
But the individuals can put in effort collectively to make it a squad.

Squadmates,
please
please
please
put in the effort
to be mentally and physically
Hotshots.

I, for one, do not want to look back at the end of our NCO-ship, and realise that for the past year, we did nothing,
but drift.

"All for One, One for All."

[[RVNP Sec01 'o8]] journeys♥

ROD'10 has ended, and this mean that we are NCOs already my dear squadmates! thinking back to the past few years, from the young and ignorant sec1s, we had gone through 3 batches of NCO. their advices and wise words should be make use of during our nco-ship. let's bond during nco-ship and dont let it break us okkay?

preparation for the function was done well and quite efficient today, hope that we will be like this everytime we work together, producing positive results yeah?
passing out parade was a parade specially for us, the parade that transform us into NCOs and not sec3s anymore. i must say that we did great! absolutely marvellous people :D
as for th ROD items, although we were not able to dance our awesome dance, do not think that the effort put in during the past few weeks are wasted. we bonded, laughed through and practised the dance together. what we had gained were priceless. but anyway we did perform for our 4 sqd ICs in the end didnt we ((:
overall, the event was well-organised, fun and utterly amazing. great job done peepo!! ^^
our hard work were paid off.

finally,
thankyou ICs for putting up with our rebellious nature.
thankyou ICs for putting in effort and make us what we are today.
thankyou ICs for encouraging us and giving helpful advices.
thankyou ICs for your presents today.
thankyou squadmates for going through thick and thin with each other.
thankyou squadmates for being there for each other.
thankyou suqadmates for sharing the joy, sadness and everything together.
thankyou squadmates for the time we spend together.
thankyou squadmates for cheering each other on.
thankyou thankyou..

alot and alot more gratitude towards alot and alot more people.
we know it right deep inside our heart.
so let's not disappoint anyone and everyone - putting in our very best to improve th unit and becoming a squad full of respectable and disciplined NCOs.

we should,
we will,
we must,
we will do it!
HOTSHOTS FTW!!
